Diverse and alive: Landscape care-work with the Gowanus Canal
A video case study by Maggie Hansen of the Gowanus Canal Conservancy, whose landscape care-work links its community with environmental justice, from LRG's 2020 showcase.
This case study of the Gowanus Canal Conservancy (GCC) will explore the potential of a model of landscape practice grounded in interconnected and mutually supportive relationships between people and place. The GCC uses landscape care-work (maintenance, advocacy, research, education, stewardship) to connect the Gowanus community and environmental justice.
Part of LRG’s annual research showcase, in 2020 entitled “A future of our own making: What does landscape justice look and feel like in the face of rapid environmental change?”
